This work discusses the new sensory experiences brought about by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and critically observes AI recognition technology.

In GAI technology, well-trained AI programs need to possess the ability to recognize "concepts in human society." This is reflected in the construction of various algorithmic models, which are dedicated to achieving the "recognition" of concepts in human society, so as to present them in data and images.

The artist redraws each frame of a racing game video into a pitcher plant using Stable Diffusion. The video's structure still retains the form of the racing game footage, but the content has been transformed into pitcher plants. By changing the speed of the video, its sound also changes accordingly. Sound Recognition identifies the altered sound and feeds the results back to Stable Diffusion, directly reflecting the sound recognition results in the video images.

During the experience, viewers will naturally discern whether the audio and visual elements they hear and see align with their cognitive concepts. The artwork's title, "The Desire for Recognition," refers to both the AI's yearning for recognition accuracy and the viewers' wish to recognize the content and sound in the images.

The inclusion of "Pitcher Plant" and "Pineapple" in the artwork's title draws inspiration from the artist's reading of Yoko Ono's Grapefruit. Grapefruit consists of a series of instructions for surreal artistic actions that readers cannot complete, but can appreciate the artistic value through imagination. Just as the name "grapefruit" can be split into "grape" and "fruit," two originally independent concepts merge into a new concept while still retaining the essence of the original concepts. According to semiotic interpretation, this naming approach has multiple signifiers but points to the same signified, consistent with the feeling evoked by the text's content. Borrowing from this method, the artist uses "Pitcher Plant" and "Pineapple" as the artwork's title, which can be decomposed into concepts such as "Pitcher," "Plant," "Pine," and "apple." These seemingly independent concepts, when combined, create new meanings and sensations.
